Just a short time ago, seniors who needed help with their care had very few choices. Often they ended up in nursing homes, sharing a crowded room with two or three other people, and being surrounded by confused, agitated patients.

Today, thanks to options like Diablo Lodge's new Assisted Living Program, seniors can remain in private apartments, maintain their independence and dignity, and still receive the care they need. Benefits of the new Assisted Living program include bathing, dressing and grooming assistance, help with medications and assistance to and from the dining room for meals.

How does the Assisted Living Program work?
Let's go through the steps:

Step 1: All new residents will receive a functional assessment by Diablo Lodge staff before they move in. This assessment helps us determine the type and quantity of assistance you may need.

Step 2: People needing assistance are evaluated to determine the level of care needed. We will work with you to develop your care program, and to determine the cost of your care. Fees for assistance are in addition to the monthly apartment rental. At Diablo Lodge we have seven levels of care:

Step 3: You and your family will work together with staff to plan your care, identify your needs and develop schedules for medication and any special needs you may have. We're here to support you in any way we can, and to help foster your independence.

Step 4: Periodically, we will reassess your needs to determine if your level of care should be changed.
